Three signs it's dull
You have to push. The chips come out as dust instead of curls. The cut pulls to one side.
How many sharpenings a chain has
Until the cutters reach the wear line or the depth gauges can't be filed any more. A chain that's been rocked or hit a nail may be done early.
Don't forget the bar
A worn bar groove lets a sharp chain wander. If the cut still pulls after sharpening, the bar is usually the reason. We stock bars and chains for ECHO and Husqvarna.
